FIFA World Cup 26 Volunteer Centre - Toronto opens at Humber

The top-ranked college in Toronto, Humber Polytechnic, joins the action as an Official Toronto World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter. Here’s a peek at the on-campus volunteer centre.

FIFA World Cup 26™ (link opens in new window) is just eight months away. And volunteers will be the heartbeat. In fact, FIFA and the City of Toronto (link opens in new window) joined forces at  Humber Polytechnic (link opens in new window), the top-ranked college in Toronto (link opens in new window), to open the FIFA World Cup 26™ Volunteer Centre - Toronto at Humber’s Lakeshore Campus on November 13, 2025. The City of Toronto’s partnership with Humber leverages the esteemed academic institution’s expertise in event and sport management, its diverse student body, and community connections.

“This is more than a partnership,” says Ann Marie Vaughan, Humber’s president and CEO. “It’s a moment where education, community and global sport come together to create lasting impact.”

Close to 250,000 people applied to volunteer—a clear reflection of Toronto’s excitement as it prepares to host six FIFA World Cup games in June and July 2026 alongside 15 other cities across Canada, Mexico and the United States.

The volunteer centre will serve as the hub for recruitment, interviews, training, and outfitting of more than 3,000 people who play a critical role in delivering a world-class experience for fans and participants during the highly anticipated tournament.

Volunteer roles will include event operations, guest services, technical support, city ambassadors at stadiums, airports and transit hubs and much more. Volunteers will gain valuable training, skills and connections, as well as recognition for their contributions to this once-in-a-lifetime event. Training will happen between now and April 2026.

“I’m excited to be a part of such a big sporting event being held in our city. [...] I don’t think there’s any city better to host the FIFA World Cup than Toronto.”
Lamme Yousouf, Starting Lineup Volunteer, Volunteer Tryout Support

In addition to the volunteer program, the City of Toronto will provide experiential learning opportunities for hundreds of Humber students, ranging from photography and social media to performing arts, data collection, and reporting.

“It’s the biggest ever FIFA World Cup with the biggest ever population of volunteers. So I think it’s very special for me, as a Humber student, to be supporting and doing really impactful work—not just for me but for the city of Toronto and for Canada.”
– Brandy Laurent, Humber Student, Experiential Learning Opportunity
